|  | Chalkidiki The Chalkidiki peninsula is a large blob to the south-east of Thessaloniki, from which three long fingers (Kassandra, Sithonia, and Athos) extend into the Aegean. The capital of Chalkidiki is Poligiros, a picturesque town. The resorts of Sani, Kalithea, Kriopigi, Chanioti and Paliouri are ideal for family vacations. The peninsula of Sithonia is undoubtedly the prettiest and most cheerful of the three fingers. You will find fine beaches from Metamorfosis down to Toroni, and first class camping facilities at Paradissos and Neos Marmaras. Near the latter, Sithonia boasts, one of the countrys best resort complexes, Porto Carras. Chalkidiki lies to the south, Mt.
