Crete is a metropolis of sports.Like all Greece the most popular sport is football.Crete has only one representatives in major leagues of Greece.They have as home stadiums major athletic centers like "Theodoros Vardinogiannis" and "Pagkritio Stadium"

Details:
In Crete the bigger and better stadiums are gathered in the Iraklio city. Also the only team of Crete which is in the major football league of Greece is O.F.H. and its home stadium is in Iraklio city. This stadium is "Theodoros Vardinogiannis". It is located at the west side of Iraklio, at Kaminia. Some kilometers far from "Theodoros Vardinogiannis" stadium, there is a new football stadium. The "Pagkritio Stadium" has built due to the Olympic Games.The inauguration ceremony is arranged for the 31st of March with a game of Greece football team against probably with Switzerland. The capacity of the stadium is going to be almost 27.500 spectators
