Like in the rest of Crete, here one can see many monasteries and churches, caverns and many archeological places and museums.
For people's transport, there is the central bus station of short or long distances buses, (K.T.E.L.) that connect most of the regions in the prefecture. We have to mention that transportation is accomplished through smaller regional roads.
A place in the prefecture, that someone should definitely visit, is Vai, the famous date palm forest, which is the biggest in Greece and known all across Europe. The beautiful sand-beach with the palm forest contributes to a view of rare beauty.
All over the prefecture, there are many graphical and beautiful beaches. We should also mention, that artistic exhibits and traditional festivals are being organized here as well. The town of Agios Nikolaos is connected with Piraeus and other regions of Greece by modern ferries.
