Aghios Nikolaos is approximately 15 minutes away. Heraklion Airport about three quarters of an hour. Situated near some of the most famous 5 star hotels in Greece, it still enjoys peace and tranquility. Some of the 5 star hotels offer scuba diving, if you are interested diving with Poseidon.You can also find scuba diving in Aghios Nikolaos, not so far to go to dive with Poseidon!!! A car is definitely recommended.You can rent a scooter or bike, but some roads are steep and although relatively good are typical Greek country lanes! If you rent a scooter or bike, you must take a helmit and wear it, the fine is large and the police are clamping down on this regulation! You can get a direct flight from the UK to Heraklion airport during the summer months, some of you may wish to take an extended holiday in the winter. The climate is extremely mild here due to Crete's southerly position! Crete is the most southerly islands of all the Greek islands! Unfortunately, at the moment, the flights are not direct and are via Athens. The plane from Athens is approximately one hour and about 75euros.
